Overview
To connect your Instagram account, you must meet three main requirements:
Your Instagram account must be a Professional (Business or Creator) account.
Your Instagram account must be linked to a Facebook Page where you are an admin.
You must have Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled on the Facebook account you use during connection.
Once these are completed, you can connect your Instagram account directly through the Carl app.
Step 1: Switch to a Professional Account on Instagram
Your Instagram account must be set as a Professional account (either Creator or Business).
How to switch
Open your Instagram profile.
Tap the Settings icon.
Scroll down to the For professionals section.
Tap Account Types and Tools.
Select Switch to Professional Account.
Choose the category that best describes you.
Select whether you are a Business or a Creator.
Confirm the change.
Step 2: Connect Your Instagram to a Facebook Page
Your Instagram account must be linked to a Facebook Page.
You must also be an admin of that Page.
If you already have a Facebook Page
If you already have a Facebook Page
Check if your Instagram profile is already connected to a Facebook Page.
If it is, you can move to the next step.
If you don’t have a Facebook Page yet
If you don’t have a Facebook Page yet
You can create and connect it directly from Instagram.
How to connect or create a Page
Open your Instagram profile.
Tap Edit Profile.
Scroll to the Profile Information section.
Tap Connect or Create next to “Page.”
Tap Continue.
If you already have a Facebook Page, select it from the list.
If not, tap Create a new Facebook Page, name it, select its category, and confirm.
Log in to Facebook and ensure you have admin access to this Page.
Step 3: Enable Two-Factor Authentication on Facebook
Facebook requires Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to allow Instagram connection.
How to enable 2FA
Log in to the Facebook account linked to your Instagram.
Go to Settings & Privacy → Settings.
In the Meta Accounts Center, open Passwords and Security.
Select Two-Factor Authentication.
Choose your Facebook profile.
Pick a verification method:
Authentication App (recommended) such as Google Authenticator, or Text Message (SMS).
Follow the on-screen steps to finish setup.
Step 4: Connect Instagram to the Carl App
Once all requirements are met, follow these steps in the Carl iOS app.
In the Carl app
Go to the Accounts section.
Tap Instagram → Add Account.
Accept cookies if prompted.
Log in with your Facebook account (the same one linked to your Instagram).
Complete two-factor authentication when asked.
Save your login credentials for future use.
After logging in, you will see permission screens asking what to share with Carl.
Follow these selections carefully:
Give access only to existing Pages → select the Facebook Page linked to your Instagram.
Give access only to existing Businesses → select your Business Portfolio (created automatically when you linked your Facebook Page).
Give access only to existing Instagram accounts → select the Instagram profile you want to connect.
Click Save, then I understand to confirm.
You will be redirected back to the Carl app.
Choose the Instagram account displayed and tap Confirm Access to finish.
Your instagram is now connected to the Carl app.
IMPORTANT: If You Are Connecting for the Second Time
If you have already connected your Instagram account once before to the app, or if your previous connection attempt was unsuccessful, your login credentials are saved.
That means you will be taken directly to the permission screen (without entering your Facebook login again).
In this case, it is essential to click “Edit previous settings” before continuing.
This allows you to update or change which Facebook Page, Business Portfolio, or Instagram account is connected.
Then repeat the same three selections:
Give access only to existing Pages → select your linked Facebook Page.
Give access only to existing Businesses → select your Business Portfolio.
Give access only to existing Instagram accounts → select the Instagram profile you want to connect.
Click "Save", then "I understand" buttons, and return to the Carl app to complete the process.
Final Step to do in the Carl app:
Select your connected Instagram account.
Tap Confirm Access or Accept.
Wait for the confirmation message that your account has been connected.
Your Instagram account is now successfully connected to the Carl iOS app.
