How to disconnect a social media account in Carl (to free up space for a new one)

Unpair (disconnect) a social media account from Carl so you can free up space and connect a different one.

This guide shows you how to unpair (disconnect) a social media account from Carl so you can free up space and connect a different one.

Heads up: Unpairing an account permanently erases all of that account's progress, insights, and collabs. Only continue if you're sure you no longer need that data.

Before you start

  • Make sure you're signed in to the Carl app.

  • Decide which account you want to remove, and confirm you have the login details for the new account you plan to connect.

Steps

1. Go to the Accounts tab

Tap Accounts in the bottom navigation bar. Your currently connected account appears here (for example, under Instagram) with a green Connected label.

2. Open the menu

Tap the menu icon (three lines) in the top-left corner of the screen.

3. Open Account Management

Tap Account Management from the menu.

4. Select the account to remove

On the My paired accounts screen, tap the circle to the right of the account you want to remove. A purple checkmark appears, confirming it's selected.

5. Tap Unpair account

Tap the Unpair account button near the bottom of the screen.

6. Confirm

A confirmation box titled "Attention, please!" warns that you'll lose all progress, insights, and collabs for that account. Tap Unpair to confirm.

Verify it worked

After a brief loading moment, the account disappears from your My paired accounts list. The slot is now free.

Connect a different account

Tap Add your account and follow the prompts to sign in to the new social media account you want to connect.

Common issues

  • Don't see the account after unpairing? Close and reopen the Accounts tab to refresh the list.

  • Changed your mind? Tap Cancel in the confirmation box instead of Unpair. Once an account is unpaired, its data can't be recovered.
